Mate1 is OK if you're careful I've been on Mate1 for about four months. In that time, I have met six local ladies who were all flesh-and-blood real people, and all were very nice. On the other hand, I also have gotten a plethora of attempts from at least five different countries. The worst are the ones who look like the proverbial girl next door with a USA location, but when you communicate, they are stuck in Nigeria and need money to get out of the country, or some variation on that theme. I have been using Chemistry.com and eHarmony at the same time so it has been easy to compare both sites. Chemistry starts with a detailed personality test to determine your personalty type to aid in better matching and to give you a better understanding on who you are. Mine was spot on! While you can't search you do get a set number of matches each day and as long as you file them or close them the matches will keep coming. A plus with this site and a relatively new feature, you can see when the match was last online. That a real bonus for me as my eHarmony account has pages of dead profiles that are piling up. EH may claim they have a large membership\, but they are counting old files that they keep recycling. At least with Chemistry I can see that my prospects are living! Another plus, Chemistry customer service or Concierge as they call it is second to none. You can email or pick up the phone (no phone with EH) and know you will be treated with respect and promptly. In my experience, there tends to be more subscribers at Chemistry than EH too, which makes it easier for communicating should you find a match that appeals to you.
